MUD PIE Kitchen

Inspired by the many wonderful mud pie kitchens I've seen on others blogs, I decided to make one of our own. About 20 minutes later, a brand new mud pie kitchen, made from all the junk we have hanging around - it does come in handy sometimes! I was most excited about the toys in the hanging baskets, easy to put away and free draining.

Middle one said - "but how do you make mud pies". I gasped in shock. What have I been depriving my children of? It didn't take him long to catch on, and they all took to it with gusto. Think this might be a favourite outdoor summer hangout.

  2. That's absolutely wonderful, Kirsty. Too late for mud kitchen here, but we might try a snow kitchen soon!

(I also wanted to thank you for your latest comment, it means a lot to me when someone understands.)

Lovely, new week to you and your little ones!

  3. Oh how I love this, the pics are fantastic. What an utterly wonderful idea with the hanging baskets. Our dirt patch has a tree just perfect for this sort of set with baskets. I'm on the such then this week for some second hand baskets.

  9. Oooh. I like this!
With all the rain we're having we've been doing sandy-mud making too. Hanging things up on the fence is so simple and good.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

  10. Yes Rachel, our kids can be clean freaks so it's great to see them dirty.
A snow kitchen, that would look amazing Lilli.
Journey to Bliss, you find those baskets at the tip a lot, I've never had much luck growing things in them, they dry out too quickly.
Plain old mud and water, simple and sweet, I agree Faith.
    Thanks Lea and Kirsty.
Yes the kids played for ages Jode, I'm amazed how long the old oil paintings are lasting outside - couldn't quite bare throwing them away.

the fence is just new Megan so my mind is ticking over with possibilities.

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.

“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead.”
