I love the Melbourne Museum

Saturday the kids played at the wonderful Carlton Gardens Playground next to the Melbourne Museum, lots of different things to explore and a rare glimpse of Melbourne sunshine which was trying hard to warm our backs. My sister and her girlfriend helped entertain the kids, its always great when you have a high adult to child ratio, especially for the two year old who needs careful watching and loves a companion on the see saw.

We then had an hour to spare before dark and as we are museum members we decided to venture inside.  We spent the whole time at the Dynamic Earth Exhibition, we were blown away by the 3D video show although the two year old was scared by the noise and preferred the dinosaur bones.  We were covered in lava and had crystals spinning in front of our eyes - lots of fun.  As we walked through the exhibition we were trying to choose our favourite crystal in each cabinet, very tricky as they have such an amazing array.  Its great to do the museum in a small bite as there was plenty to do and take in in just this one location. The kids brought home a crystal to add to their collection and have since been inspired to pull out the whole collection for a clean and investigation.

In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.

“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
"Winter is dead.”
